Correct the words first
Automatic transcription is a first draft. Play the audio and check names, product terms, numbers and negations. A missing “not” can reverse a sentence. If you cannot hear a word clearly, check the original or ask the speaker instead of guessing.
Break at natural pauses
Aim for phrases that can be understood together. Avoid separating a name from its title or a number from its unit. Read each caption as it appears rather than checking only a full transcript: timing and line breaks affect whether a viewer can follow it.
Choose readable styling
Use a clear typeface and enough contrast. A background or outline can help when the image changes. Emphasise only the words that carry meaning. If everything jumps, changes colour or grows at once, the styling competes with the message.
Check the actual destination
Preview on a small screen and keep important text clear of faces, platform controls and the bottom caption area. Different platforms place their interface differently. Inspect the actual upload preview; a clean export alone does not prove that all text remains visible.
Keep a final review routine
Watch once for accuracy, once for readability and once for timing. Save an editable version. If your publishing platform supports a separate caption track, consider supplying one as well as any text burned into the video. Check the available options directly with that platform.
